Basic Fire Awareness for Care Homes

Who should do a Fire Safety Awareness Course?
Anyone working in a care home should be aware of the rules and regulations regarding fire safety and know what to do should a fire occur. From Care Home Managers to Nurses, Care Assistants, kitchen staff and cleaners. Everyone can benefit from Health and Safety Training.

Why you Should Choose E-Learning
An E-learning course can be taken at any time working from home or at work if you are able. You can pace your studies to suit your way of life. You don’t need to travel to a classroom or sit with people you don’t know. You can do the course from your computer when you are able to study, whether that be first thing in the morning or after work in the evenings.

What does the course cover?
There are five modules which cover:
·         Chemistry of Fire
·         Basic Safety Features in Buildings
·         Introduction to Fire Extinguishers
·         What to do in Case of Fire
·         Fire Statistics

How do I submit the modules?
After each module you will have to answer three questions about the module topic. If you answer incorrectly, or your final mark is low, you can do the module twice more and you should achieve a pass rate of 70% or more.

How Long Does each Module Take to Complete?
You can complete it in one day, two, over the weekend, or whenever you can. The course actually lasts around 3 hours.

Is there any other way to do the course?
Yes, if your company wants to take part in a training course, we can arrange to hold them at your work premises or any other location chosen by your management team.

Is it a certification course?
Yes. When you have completed the course you will be awarded a certificate of completion which you can print off from your computer and the course is accredited by the Institution of Fire Engineers and ROSPA.

Health And Safety Risk Assessment

Why e-learning is such a powerful Training Approach
It is powerful because e-learning encourages participation and interaction through online support and virtual classrooms.  You might not participate in a classroom situation, but you often find that you are not so shy whilst using your computer. You are able to learn at your own pace and not become intimidated or overwhelmed by better students in the classroom.
E-learning also gives you the opportunity to read back on topics which have previously been discussed and make use of photographs, videos and text which help to retain important information.
The benefits of e-learning
You learn at your own pace at a time that is convenient to you. If you have had a busy week and miss a college class, it may mean that you miss a vital part of the course you are studying. This doesn’t happen on an e-learning online course. You can pick up where you left off and nothing is missed. You study at your own pace and set your own schedule.
The significance of e-learning for companies
E-learning saves money on training costs. If you have a national company, or one where your workforce is spread globally, setting up a classroom based course can be time consuming and expensive. E-learning courses can be accessed from anywhere at any time. There are no travel costs or schedules to shift around and the course material can be easily and quickly updated if necessary.
It is the ideal way to teach a large number of people in different locations. Challenges and Advantages of an e-learning course The biggest challenge of an e-learning course is self- motivation. For example if you begin studying an online health and safety course; it’s up to you to find the time to turn on your computer and begin studying.
Your boss isn’t going to know if you don’t study one week, but he or she would know if you didn’t turn up to classes, which motivates students to attend. You need to organise your free time so that you can study effectively.
E-learning doesn’t interfere with your working day, you don’t have to re-schedule a meeting or work late because you’ve had to attend a classroom course. E-learning courses are normally cheaper too, which is a benefit if you are having to pay for the course as an individual.
Why e-learning is becoming the new trend
Taking part in any learning course expands your knowledge and helps your promotion prospects. Using e-learning saves your company money on travel and classroom expenses and you are able towork when you can, from either your office or at home.
Many people are beginning to see the benefits of doing a course that they can structure to their own needs and which takes the stress away from having to attend a traditional classroom course. Risk Safety Services provide e-learning online courses in health and safety training and you can contact them through their website or by phoning 0843 523 0410.
